katiefrance-deactivated20121126 asked: Who got most gold in women's hurdles?

I’m not sure if you mean individual athletes or countries, so I’ll answer both! Either way, this is a bit of a complicated question to answer! From 1932 to 1968, women ran an 80 meter event, and since 1972 they’ve lengthened it to 100 meters. They’re considered two separate events in the record books. Shirley Strickland is the only athlete to have won gold in hurdles (of either length) twice, in the 80 meter event. If you were referring to the 100 meter hurdles, there isn’t any one athlete who’s won the most gold.

However, if you refer to the countries, Australia has the most in 80 meters and the United States has the most in 100 meters. If you consider both events together, then the two countries are tied with four golds each.

I hope that answers your question!

Ahoy

This blog is run by a largely non-athletic trivia buff. I am fascinated by the history of the modern Olympic Movement, and it is really a passion of mine. Some of the knowledge here is off the top of my head, and some is researched.

If you have anything you want to know, feel free to ask! I love having new things to research.

Also, if you have any great Olympic facts of your own.. SUBMIT! I also love having new resources, so let me know if you find something you think I'd be interested in!
